History of Dunearn Secondary Malay Debating Team

The Malay Cultural Society Debating Team had been in existence since the inception of Dunearn Secondary School in 1962. Regular debating practices were held once a week on Tuesday afternoon. Members were given training in oral communication, debating skills, writing skills, rebutting skills and voice projection. Ever since its inception, its members had participated in numerous Inter-School Debate organized by Berita Harian from 1999 – 2008 where our members performed commendably. Our best performance was in 2004 where we reached the semi-finals and obtained 4^th placing overall. We also won the best Speaker Award through Sharifah Munirah. In the recently concluded 2008 Inter-School Debate organized by Berita Harian our speaker Hadi Wiputra once again did the school proud by clinching the Best Debater Award.With greater commitment and enthusiasm of its members, we hope to soar to even greater heights in 2009.
